from * to last 9 sts, end [yo, p2tog] 4 times, k1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: P1, *[yo, p2tog] 4 times, p8; rep from * to last 9
sts, end [yo, p2tog] 4 times, p1.
Row 9: K1, *[yo, p2tog] 4 times, 8-st LC; rep from * to last 9 sts, end
[yo, p2tog] 4 times, k1.
Row 16: Rep row 2.
Continue repeating these 16 rows for desired length of pattern.
